Understanding Organic Lawn Care

Joe’s Lawn Care: Our main objective is to break down any barriers between us and you (the customer), offering the best, transparent information available without any ‘fluff’.

So it is simple really; None of our Non Organic treatments are detrimental to the environment, people pets or wildlife. Products are tested and licensed … and we are licensed to use them!

So what does organic treatments mean?

The word “Organic” has some confusing definitions

So, what do we mean? We’re talking biological or naturally sourced.

An organic treatment means lawn feed and weed control derived from living matter and without the use of factory produced or manmade chemicals and is non toxic to our environment.

The reason we are unable at this time to offer a fully organic treatment is because it is far too expensive to the customer, for not a great result, it works at a much slower pace as it works with nature and extreme patience is required. As a lawn care business we know how important the garden centrepiece is, and until there is something better on the market we’re not prepared to offer a fully organic programme which we don’t have faith in, we keep trialling different organic products until we find a product which will give our customers the desired outcome in their lawns. We are very aware of our environmental footprint and we take great care in our day to day operations, by route planning to reduce our fuel emissions and the carefully selected products which we use on your lawn is no different.

Looking after our environment is a priority for us and we will continue to try new products and keep having discussions with our suppliers to keep us updated if there is any change in organic products available.

Going Organic can be expensive.

The products are expensive and the application rates are high. There is also nothing on the market which is yet good enough to tackle those pesky weeds.

Patience is necessary with fully organic treatments, being natural, they work at natures pace and are not for the impatient.

Is it safer to have Organic treatments?

We do not use any of our non-organic, traditional lawn treatment products in ways which would be detrimental to the environment, people, pets or wildlife. The products we do use are extensively tested and licensed. We are also licensed to use them.

Are there Organic weed killers?

Unfortunately not, there are none that work reliably or that can be applied without enormous amount of labour. Painting individual weed leaves would be very expensive indeed and most disappointing if the result were patchy and short lived.

Did you know a healthy lawn absorbs carbon dioxide and produces enough oxygen for a family of four.

And those looking for a fully organic treatment…

We do have solutions for those who are looking for a fully organic treatment.

  1. Scarify your lawn twice a year and overseed, this is to make sure young healthy grass will dominate your lawn and hopefully stop those pesky weeds from appearing.
  2. Dig out the weeds as they come through, this can be tedious especially if your lawn is covered, and the weather can sometimes put a halt to this work – if you’re not prepared to get out in all weathers,  then this is probably not a good option.

We are members of BASIS lawn Assured and UK Lawncare Association, it is our commitment to providing lawncare in a safe way. We want to reassure you that all our products and technology is safe and as natural as possible. Your lawn is in safe hands with Joe’s Lawn Care
